Terrorists affiliated to The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) have reportedly kidnapped no fewer than 5 government officials supervising some project in Borno State.
It was learnt that the victims were said to be supervising the construction of Chibok-Damboa road when they attacked and forcefully whisked away on Wednesday.
According to Daily Trust, one of the abducted staff, a driver, escaped unhurt.
Eyewitnesses disclosed that the incident, which occurred near Wovi, a remote village in Chibok Local Government Area, has created tension among other state officials.
A senior government official who craved anonymity confirmed the incident.
“Yes, it is so sad and we are worried about these latest developments.
“The abductions came as a shocker to us. I can confirm to you that they were abducted this morning,” he said.
