Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor suspected of delivering drugs to kidnappers operating in parts of Kwara State.
According to a statement by Rafiu Ajakaye, Chief Press Secretary to the Kwara State Governor, the doctor was intercepted in the Jebba area following intelligence reports linking him to the criminal network.
The DSS revealed that the gangs have increasingly sought medical attention for gunshot wounds sustained during confrontations with security forces.
A security official warned, “We are advising improved security measures in health facilities located in thickly forested areas, which the kidnappers may target.”
Authorities said the arrest underscores the urgent need for vigilance in both remote communities and medical establishments, as law enforcement intensifies efforts to dismantle kidnapping operations across the state.
