25 million naira cash intercepted by the DSS and police operatives in Kaduna
By HARUNA AHMED, Kaduna –
In a joint operation, the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police have arrested a suspected agent of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Shehu Aliyu Fatangi for allegedly engaging in vote-buying activities in Kaduna State.
The arrest took place late Friday night at a hotel on Turunku Road in the Kaduna metropolis, ahead of the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency by-election scheduled for Saturday.
Security operatives recovered ₦25,963,000 in cash from Fatangi, which authorities believe was intended to sway voters.

Spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, confirmed this in a statement issued on Saturday.
DSP Hassan said: “At about 0330hrs today, operatives of the Nigeria Police, in conjunction with the DSS, arrested one Shehu Aliyu Fatangi at a popular hotel in Kaduna metropolis.
“Recovered from him was the sum of ₦25,963,000, believed to be earmarked for inducing voters.”
Preliminary investigations suggest Fatangi was orchestrating the distribution of funds to compromise the electoral process.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to the offense and sought leniency.
DSP Hassan quoted the Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, as praising the collaboration between security agencies.
He issued a stern warning that: “Anyone caught attempting to undermine the polls will face the full weight of the law.”
The police chief also assured residents of robust security measures throughout the election period, encouraging them to vote freely without fear of intimidation.
