The Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN), in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, has organized rally in order to celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ with a call on Nigerians to make sacrifices for the overall development of the country.
Chairman of the association in the area, Rev. Paul Makama,
made the call on Monday during a rally its organized to celebrate Easter by the members of the association.
Makama said that if Christians and other Nigerians show love, live in unity, peace and make sacrifices, there would be more development in the country.
“Easter marks the Resurrection of Jesus three days after his death by crucifixion. We are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus christ from the dead,” he said.
The man of God while appreciating members of the association for coming en- mass for the programme, urged them to depend on God to overcome their challenges.
” I want to appreciate God for making it possible for us to organize this rally to celebrate Easter. Today, we are celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ died because of our sins and he has risen” he said.
Makama further urged Christians to always shun evil acts in order to inherit the kingdom of God and for societal development
Also speaking, Pastor Best Barau, CAN Zonal Chairman, Nasarawa North, urged Christians and other Nigerians to always look up to God for their challenges to be solved.
“So many things are happening. The world is into global crisis, political crisis, global terrorism and all forms of hunger and other challenges.
”The consolation is that we have a cover and the cover is Christ. So let’s us not be deterred with what is happening as God is our saviour and provider,” he said.
The man of God also urged Christians and other Nigerians to embrace love, sacrifice, tolerance and peace for the overall development of the country.
On his part, Hon. Silas Agara, the Commissioner Representing Nasarawa State at the National Population Commission (NPC), urged Christians and other Nigerians to continue to live in unity and peace for the overall development of the country.
Agara, who was a former Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, called on Nigerians to continue to pray and support leaders to succeed.
The CAN which kick started from Akwanga local government secretariat gate, terminates at ERCC Zion Gate Church, at Wamba bye-pass, Akwanga.
