Easter: GOC commends troops for selfless service in fight against insurgency

The acting General Officer Commanding (GOC), 7 Division Nigerian Army Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri, Brigadier General Abubakar G. I. Haruna has commended troops of Operation Hadin Kai JTF North East Theater Command for their sacrifices and efforts in the counter insurgency fight in Borno State and Lake Chad region.

Brig. Gen. Haruna also expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his strategic guidance to the Nigerian Armed Forces while appreciating the Chief of Defence Staff , Gen. C. G. Musa and all the Service Chiefs for their unwavering supports to the military.

The GOC stated this on Monday at the auspicious occasion of the Theatre Commander Easter luncheon with gallant officers and men of JTF (North East) Operation HADIN KAI held at the 7 Division NA Sports Center Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri

He said: “The event not only espouses the ideals of the season of Easter, it also fosters the espirit de corp amongst our troops which in no small measure boost the fighting spirit on the battlefield.

“The current security threats across the length and breadth of our dear nation has necessitated the need for cooperation with other services and security agencies.

“During the conduct of its operations, JTF Operation HADIN KAI has received immense support and resources from sister security agencies to further enhance our operations.

” We wish to express our gratitude to the Nigerian Navy for their valiant contributions in the Lake Chad region and the Nigerian Air Force in providing Close Air Support, conducting Air Interdictions and Air lift capabilities in the theatre.

“We are equally appreciative of the professional contributions of other security agencies which are all tailored towards the attainment of peace in the state.

“Our deepest thanks and appreciation goes to our Royal Father, His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Borno Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba El Kanemi for his prayers and support as our host as well as all our invited guests for sparing time out of your busy schedules to felicitate with us.

” I equally extend our profound appreciation to our gallant troops on the battlefield for their selfless sacrifices in restoring peace and security in the North East and other parts of the country.

“To those present here who bear the deepest wounds and scars of war, we appreciate your sacrifices. You are our heroes and as enshrined in our National Anthem your labour towards defending your fatherland shall not be in vain,” Brig. Gen. Haruna said.
