Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru
Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has declared that no action will be taken against the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Grace Umezuriike, regarding allegations of funds diversion until investigations are complete.
Speaking during a service at the Government House Chapel in Abakaliki on Sunday, Nwifuru emphasized that Umezuriike remains innocent until proven guilty.
“I am aware of a publication concerning our SSG, which is currently before the Federal High Court in Uyo, Akwa Ibom,” Nwifuru said.
“As a lawyer, I believe in establishing facts before passing judgment to avoid setting dangerous precedents.”
He assured the public that his administration is closely monitoring the case.
Nwifuru also expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of some appointees, noting that their failure to deliver on the government’s “People’s Charter of Needs” vision prompted a recent minor cabinet reshuffle.
“Our mission is clear, and that’s why the people elected us,” he stated.
“We are evaluating appointees, and I will not hesitate to relieve those who fail to perform once their grace period expires.”
The governor called on state leaders to ignore social media critics and invest in Ebonyi, promising a business-friendly environment.
“We are committed to creating a conducive atmosphere for your ventures to succeed,” he assured.
During the service, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Agwu, the officiating priest, encouraged the congregation to embody true servitude to God.
“A genuine servant of God must exhibit perseverance, humility, and attentiveness to others, doing what is right despite external pressures,” Agwu said.
