Edo State Police Command has launched an intensive operation to secure the release of three seminarians kidnapped during a violent attack on July 11 at Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary in Ivianokpodi-Agenebode, Etsako East Local Government Area.
The assault tragically claimed the life of an officer from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).
In a statement issued on Monday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Moses Yamu, confirmed that Commissioner of Police Monday Agbonika is personally overseeing the rescue mission.
“Our Tactical Teams, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, are fully deployed to ensure the safe return of the victims,” Yamu said.
He further noted that a tactical division has been established in the Ivieukwa community to bolster security and enhance technical intelligence efforts.
The police are collaborating with security experts and other agencies to leverage advanced intelligence and coordinated strategies for the rescue.
Addressing a recent viral video involving the seminarians, Yamu reassured the public, stating, “We are working tirelessly to bring the seminarians back safely, and we assure the Catholic Diocese of Auchi, their families, and the public of our unwavering commitment.”
He emphasized the command’s dedication, adding, “The Edo State Police will continue to prioritize the protection of lives and property.”
