To forestall and adequately respond to any unforseen eventuality, the Sokkto State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps ( FRSC) has deployed no fewer than 720 personnel to ensure hitch free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Briefing newsmen on Wednesday in Sokoto, the FRSC Sector Commander, Kabiru Nadabo said the personnel in collaboration with other sister security agencies will form a special patrol squad in the state during the festivity.
Mr. Nadabo, who appreciated the FRSC Marshal, Boboye Opeyemi for graciously granting his request by making funds available to rehabilitate grounded vehicles at the Sokoto Sector Command, affirmed that they now have sound vehicles to patrol the state.
“The Sokoto Sector Command has set up the Eid-el-Kabir special patrol squad in the state, which has been scheduled to commence operations from today 06th July, 2022. Motorists are urged to imbibe the theme of the 2022 Sallah special patrol operation tagged, “Reduction in Road Traffic crashes, Road Fatalities, and Road Traffic Injuries” throughout the period to achieve the goal. The Command will ensure free flow of traffic in the state”.
He said: “The Sallah special patrol will focus more on robust public education and enlightenments, speedy removal of obstruction from the highways, stopping of motor vehicles race at Bafarawa Old Airport and Shehu Kangiwa Square as well as pay attention to excessive speed, dangerous driving use of phone while driving, route violation, lane discipline, Tyre violation, indiscriminate parking, drunk driving as well as other road traffic violations”.
While advising motorist to consider their lives very important, the FRSC boss further appealed for cooperation from all and sundry towards making the roads safe for all.
