Traders at the political rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi, on Thursday made brisk businesses following the large turnout of faithful that attended the campaign.
The traders which included food vendors attracted large patronage as they sold party-branded souvenirs at the Pa Ngele Oluta township stadium, Abakaliki.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the rally was organised for the PDP Presidential candidate, Mr Atiku Abubakar, and the state Governorship candidate, Mr Ifeanyichukwuma Odii, ahead of the forthcoming elections.
NAN reports that the traders mounted canopies at different places and displayed their goods while those selling items such as snacks, soft drinks, water and local drinks also displayed on the roads.
Mrs Charity Agbo, a branded souvenir vendor, commended the organisers, saying that the rally had a boost on her business.
“Yes, PDP is pulling crowd. I thank God for today, of course I have made good sales,” Agbo said.
Mrs Mercy Onuigbo, another vendor, said the rally had been profitable, noting that it was a “happy day” for her and other traders.
“This is a competitive business for one day but I thank God for being with us. I have made some gains. I sold PDP wristbands. I sold at the rate of N200 and some for N300,” Onuigbo said.
Also, the food vendors who confirmed that sales were also good, thanked the organisers and said that the profit would enhance their businesses. (NAN)
