“Fantastic Four: The First Steps” has taken the top spot at the Nigerian box office, raking in N107 million since its release on July 25.
Despite facing stiff competition from blockbuster films like “Superman,” “F1,” and “Jurassic World: Rebirth,” the Marvel superhero movie has performed remarkably well.
The film, starring Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing, tells the story of the Fantastic Four team as they defend Earth from a space god called Galactus and his enigmatic Herald, Silver Surfer.
According to FilmOne Entertainment, the distributing company, the movie’s success is a testament to its strong appeal, even with other big-budget films vying for attention. The Fantastic Four team, created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, first appeared in Marvel Comics over six decades ago.
With its impressive box office performance, “Fantastic Four: The First Steps” has cemented its place as one of the year’s top-grossing films in Nigeria, showcasing the enduring popularity of superhero movies.
