Nigerian First Lady Oluremi Tinubu
First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N100 million to the Christians Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF) as she flagged off the distribution of food items to Christian families for the Christmas and New Year celebrations in Kaduna.
Speaking at the event, Senator Tinubu commended the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters for organising the programme, describing it as timely and impactful.
She disclosed that through the intervention, 48,000 bags of 25kg rice were provided for beneficiaries across Northern Nigeria, alongside transport support to ease distribution.
In addition, the First Lady announced a further donation of N100 million to the CNNPF, explaining that her support was driven by a belief in empowerment rather than dependency.
The First Lady called on well-meaning Nigerians and organisations to emulate the gesture, noting that the intervention reflects a deep understanding of the needs of the people, particularly at a time when families are preparing to celebrate the season of love, joy and hope.
According to her, the gesture also serves as an appreciation to members of the Christians Northern Nigeria Political Forum for their support before and since the inception of the current administration.
She said the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is anchored on inclusion, compassion and opportunity, ensuring that all Nigerians, irrespective of background or status, are supported to thrive and realise their full potential.
Senator Tinubu further urged Nigerians to live in peace with one another and embrace the spirit of brotherhood, stressing that meaningful nation-building can only take place in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
She also commended Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for demonstrating that people of different religious and ethnic backgrounds can coexist peacefully.
In his remarks, Governor Uba Sani described the initiative as more than an act of charity, saying it symbolises care, compassion and hope for the vulnerable. He noted that true leadership is measured by the ability to respond to the needs of the less privileged in society.
The governor said the distribution of Christmas packages to Christian families across Northern Nigeria underscores Senator Tinubu’s deep empathy, commitment to national service and moral leadership.
He added that her philanthropic interventions have consistently reached the poor and underserved, providing relief and renewed hope amid economic and social challenges.
Governor Sani observed that what distinguishes the First Lady’s philanthropy is its inclusiveness, noting that her compassion cuts across religious, ethnic and regional divides.
According to him, her actions reinforce the ideals of unity, mutual respect and shared responsibility among Nigerians.
In his goodwill message, Chairman of the Christians Northern Nigeria Political Forum, Hon Ibrahim Idoko, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for promoting inclusivity and balance in national leadership.
He cited the appointments of Prof Nentawe Yilwada as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and General Christopher Musa as Minister of Defence as evidence of recognition of competence and the role of Northern Christians in nation-building.
Idoko disclosed that the forum plans to organise political summits across Northern states in the first and second quarters of 2026 to sensitise and mobilise Christians to actively participate in politics and governance.
He appealed to Northern governors, through the Progressive Governors’ Forum, to support the initiative.
He added that by the third quarter of 2026, the forum would embark on zonal campaigns and media engagements in Hausa and other local languages to highlight the achievements of President Tinubu, culminating in his formal endorsement for the 2027 general election.
