Former Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, has assumed duty as the council chairman of Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, with a courtesy visit on the Deputy Governor of the state.
The courtesy visit was shortly after the inaugural sitting of the chairman, his council members and management of the polytechnic.
Balarabe, said that they were in the Deputy Governor’s office to inform the Yobe State Government, of their assumption on duty as Governing Council of the institution.
The Council Chairman also outlined their blueprint, which includes to reposition the institution in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the education sector.
Balarabe, applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s road-map in the sector saying that it will improve Nigeria’s education system in the long run and foster institutional growth in the country.
“Your Excellency, we are here to officially inform the Yobe State Government of our resumption as Governing Council members of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Yobe State”
“We want to assure the Government of our commitment to reposition the Polytechnic for improved standard of education in the institution, the State and the Country at large, because no society or nation will achieve speedy development without good and quality education” he said.
He then promised that they will bring their experiences to bear and make inputs that will see to the progress of the institution, the state and the country at large.
Responding, the Deputy Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Idris Barde Gubana, expressed joy with their visit, noting that the government of Yobe State was impressed with the caliber of the council members and urged them to bring their experiences to bear.
The Deputy Governor assured them of effective synergy and support of the government to enable them deliver on their mandates.
The Deputy Governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for appointing the former Nasarawa Speaker Balarabe Abdullahi, to head the institution, saying he is optimistic they will deliver on their mandate.
Balarabe, also led his council members to pay a courtesy visit to the Emir of Damaturu, HRH Dr Shehu Hashimi 11 Ibn Umar El-kanemi, to seek for his royal blessings.
