Four soldiers killed, 13 injured in fatal crash along Darazo-Kari road in Bauchi

The Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) in Bauchi State, Yusuf Abdullahi, has confirmed that four soldiers were reportedly killed in a lone fatal crash at Kilometers 21 Lago Village along Darazo-Kari road in Darazo Local Government Area of the State.

He said that 13 others sustained various degrees of injuries in the crash that involved the vehicle they were driving, adding that the incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

According to him, they were reportedly traveling to Abuja in a commercial Toyota Bus, white in colour with registration number: ASU 363-XA, for an “official assignment” when the incident happened.

“We got information of a crash that occurred this afternoon at about 1.36pm at Kilometers 21 Lago Village along Darazo-Kari road in Darazo Local Government Area of the State.

“Immediately, our personnel rushed to the scene for a rescue operation within 20 minutes. They evacuated the victims to General Hospital, Darazo for treatment and confirmation.

“It was at the hospital that four of them were confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The corpses were deposited at the same hospital; the remaining 13 of them sustained various degrees of injuries including bruises, head injuries and fractures.

“The information gathered is that they are Army personnel going to Abuja on an official assignment and some were referred to the Specialist Hospital Bauchi for treatment,” he said.

The FRSC boss said that the crash was caused by a tyre burst.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the unfortunate incident is coming few hours after five people were burnt to death in a multiple fatal crash that occurred at Panshanu Village along Bauchi-Jos road in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The crash which occurred on Wednesday, March 29th, 2023 at 6.25am involved two commercial vehicles – a Toyota Hiace Bus and a Peugeot Boxer.

The crash was caused by a tyre burst which led to a loss of control by the driver of one of the vehicles and the two vehicles went up in flames.
