One of the oldest rallying points for the elites in the Middle Belt region, the Gboko Club 1932, rolled out the drums on Monday to celebrate 90 years of its existence, with the conferment of awards on deserving members, associatets and other professionals deemed to have distinguished themselves in their various fields of endeavour.
Among the award recipients were the President of Club De Pals Abuja, Hon. Cephas Anengeh Kangeh and the President of Ior Gboko Foundation, Jimmy Ajim.
While Kangeh, a safety expert and senior management staff the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), received the award for diligent service to humanity,” Ajim, who is the Chief Protocol Officer the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, was honoured with the institutional reforms award for his diligence, superb and quality service to humanity.
Located at No. 47 Makir Zakpe Way Gboko in Benue State, Gboko Club 1932 is described as the centre and heart of recreation and relaxation in the capital of the Tiv nation.
In his response, Mr Ajim thanked the Club for the Award and promised that Ior Gboko would partner with the Club for sustained development and promotion of peaceful co-existence in the Gboko community and Benue State in general.
The event, tagged, “The Festival of Drums,” was attended by many dignitaries, including a former military governor of old Anambra and Benue states, Brigadier-General John Atom Kpera (rtd), Emmanuel Ordams (President of Gboko Club1932), Arc David Ityohemba Umah (Chairman, Central Planning Committee), Chief Samuel Shaapera Moti of the FIRS Abuja and Hon. Benard Ordams (APGA House of Representatives candidate for Kwande/Ushongo Federal Constituency), among others.
