Gov. Abdulrasaq lauds Raheem Adedoyin at 60, tasks journalists on professionalism

The Kwara State Governor, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has congratulated the Secretary of the International Press Institute (IPI), Alhaji Raheem Adedoyin who recently clocked sixty.

Speaking at a public lecture organised in honour of Adedoyin, the Governor said the celebrant over the years has shown zeal, commitment and perseverance in the journalism profession.

Governor Abdulrasaq, hence, called on journalists to emulate him and always display high level of professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

This according to him would help curb the menace of fake news and “strengthen the practice of journalism in the interest of the nation”.

While delivering his lecture at the event, the Guest Lecturer, Publisher, Editor-in-Chief of Premium Times, Dapo Olorunyomi, said journalists should work to enhance the frontiers of media practice by improving the way news is gathered and in order to gear up revenue which he said had dropped over the years.

He also called on publishers to cooperate and create a proper structure that would enable a good distribution network to boost sales.

The celebrant who was a one time General Manager of the Kwara State owned Herald Newspaper, thanked Governor Abdulrasaq and everyone that came to honour him and prayed God to leas to them on the right path.

Other dignitaries at the event includes the former Military Administrator of Bauchi and Osun states, Brigadier Theophilous Bamigboye and statesman, Elder Wole Oke.
