
Minister of Works David Umahi and Kaduna Governor Uba Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has met with the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, to review progress and fast-track the completion of the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano Expressway project.
The meeting, held in Abuja, was part of efforts by the Kaduna State Government to ensure the timely completion of the critical national infrastructure, which serves as a major economic and social link between the North and the Federal Capital Territory.
Governor Uba Sani said the expressway holds both regional and national significance, describing it as a “vital economic artery” that supports trade, mobility, and social integration across northern Nigeria.
He emphasized that the project aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes infrastructure modernization and economic competitiveness.
“This expressway is not just a road it is an economic corridor connecting people, markets, and opportunities across the country,” the Governor said.
Responding, the Minister of Works, Senator Umahi, commended Governor Uba Sani for his proactive engagement and consistent advocacy for the people of Kaduna State.
Umahi reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to deliver the project within record time, disclosing that contractors have been directed to adopt double shifts to accelerate construction without compromising quality.
He added that the use of durable concrete pavement technology will ensure long-term sustainability and minimize maintenance costs.
The Minister also revealed that the Federal Ministry of Works is closely monitoring activities along the Jere–Kaduna section, where contractors have pledged to intensify work.
Governor Uba Sani assured of continued collaboration with the Federal Government to resolve local implementation challenges and ensure the successful completion of the project, describing it as a “symbol of renewed hope, national unity, and sustainable development.”
