Gov. Sule writes Nasarawa Assembly for adjustment of 2022 budget

Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), has passed a bill for a law to authorize the Issue out of the consolidated revenue fund of the State 2022 amended appropriation of the sum of N110, 849, 945, 879.49 for the services of Nasarawa State government to complement for the period commencing from 1st January, 2022 and ending 31st, December, 2022.

This is even as the bill scaled second reading on the floor of the house during its plenary in Lafia, on Wednesday.

Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who announced the passage of the bill into second readings during the House proceedings in Lafia, committed the bill to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation to work on and report back to the House Monday next week.

The Speaker urged the committee to give the bill accelerated consideration it deserved to enable government continue to provide services to the people of the State.

On their separate submissions, Hon Mohammed Okpoku, Hon Daniel Ogazi and Hon John Osewu commended Gov. Sule for submitting 2022 amended appropriation bill to the house on time and in line with accounting standard.

According to the Lawmakers, the re-alignment and adjustment of the budget to areas the funds will be utilized would enable the governor to continue to execute projects and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people of the State.

Earlier, the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Umar Tanko Tunga, while presenting the bill on behalf of Gov. Abdullahi Sule, said the 2022 budget size remain N110, 849, 945, 879.49 .

“Mr Speaker, the total budget size remain the same at N110, 849, 945, 879.49 only this reviewed 2022 budget only changes in line items of the inflow and outflow. Government share of FAAC increased from N47.2billion to N65.2billion while Internally Generated Revenue was reduced from N26.2billion to N22.1billion.

” Total capital receipts also decreased from N34.6billion to N20.6billion. I present to the Honourable House of Assembly the 2022 amended Appropriation bill ,” Tunga declared..

He said the 2022 amended appropriation was necessary to adjust and re-align some items in the budget that have not been utilized owing to the inflow and outflow of incomes and expenditures.

It would be recalled that, the House had suspended all its standing roles to enable it deliberate and scaled the bill for second reading considering the significance of the bill to the development of the State.
