Gunmen kidnap 2 Catholic priests, 2 others in Katsina

Gunmen suspected to terrorists on Wednesday midnight broke into the Rectory of St Patrick Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur Local Government Area of Katsina State and kidnapped 2 of the Reverend Fathers as well as 2 other boys from the house.

The terrorists are yet to make any demand or communicate to the Catholic Diocese at the time of filing this report.

A statement issued by Father Chirs Omotosho, the Sokoto Catholic Diocesan Director of Social Communications, however, urged the public to pray for their safety and return.

Father Chris’ pathetic statement read, “As at midnight of today, 25th May, 2022, gunmen broke into the rectory of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Gidan Maikambo, Kafur LGA of Katsina State.

” The parish priest and his assistant Rev. Frs. Stephen Ojapa, MSP, and Oliver Okpara and 2 other boys in the house were kidnapped

“No information as to their whereabouts. Kindly pray for their safety and release”.

Katsina State just like any other states in the North West region of Nigeria has continued to experience several attacks from armed men popularly known as bandits.

It will be recall that only few months ago, some priest of the Catholic Church in same Katsina State were kidnapped as well.
