Hijrah: Osun declares Wednesday public holiday

Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke  has declared Wednesday a public holiday in commemoration of Hijrah 1445 AH,  the Islamic New Year.

This is contained in a statement issued on Tuesday in Osogbo by Mr Mudashiru Oyedeji, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Regional Integration and Special Duties.

The statement said the governor would preside over a special match past on July 22, at Osogbo township stadium  as part  of activities lined up  to mark the Islamic year.

Adeleke congratulated the entire Muslim Ummah on the celebration of the new calendar year.

Meanwhile, the governor will also on Wednesday swear-in his newly appointed Commissioners

In another statement signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson to the governor, the ceremony would hold at the Local Government Service Commission building, Government Secretariat, Osogbo by 10 am.
