The Political Wing of the Indigenous Muslims Association on the Plateau has pledged unwavering support for Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, citing what it described as remarkable achievements in security, infrastructure, peace-building and inclusive governance.
Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday at their secretariat in Jos, the leader and secretary of the group, Ibrahim Pam and Hon. Babuga Yusuf Umar, said the association resolved to publicly align with the governor after assessing the performance of his administration since assuming office.
Pam said the Mutfwang administration had restored confidence in governance and repositioned Plateau State as a model of peace, tourism and hospitality, stressing that the governor’s leadership had rekindled hope among residents across religious and ethnic lines.
According to him, the state has recorded notable progress in security, agriculture, education, sports, and human capital development, adding that infrastructural renewal within Jos and its environs has significantly improved the daily lives of citizens.
He particularly highlighted ongoing and completed road construction projects, the rehabilitation of previously abandoned roads within the state capital, the introduction of new metro buses to ease urban transportation challenges, and efforts to revive the railway system.
“These interventions have not only boosted economic activities but have also improved mobility and safety for residents,” Pam said.
The group also commended the state government for what it described as fair and unbiased support to Muslim communities across Plateau State, especially during religious and festive periods, noting that such gestures have strengthened trust between the government and the people.
Pam said the association’s support for the governor was not based on religious or political sentiments but on performance and commitment to unity, stressing that development should remain a collective priority for all Plateau residents.
“We believe these achievements deserve the support of all well-meaning citizens, irrespective of faith, tribe, ethnic group or political affiliation,” he added.
In his remarks, the secretary of the association, Hon. Babuga Yusuf Umar, reaffirmed the group’s loyalty to Governor Mutfwang and pledged continued cooperation with his administration to advance peace and development in the state.
Umar said the Indigenous Muslims of Plateau State would continue to support policies and programmes aimed at promoting unity, peaceful coexistence and mutual respect among residents, describing peace as the foundation for sustainable development.
He also used the opportunity to distance the association from extremist and radical ideologies, warning against individuals who exploit religion to foment crisis and instability.
“As a faith-based organisation, we remain committed to the true teachings of Islam, which emphasise love, peace and unity. We reject fanaticism and any form of extremism that threatens harmony in our state,” Umar said.
The group further extended goodwill messages to Christians in Plateau State ahead of the Christmas celebration, wishing them a peaceful and prosperous festive season.
They expressed optimism that Plateau State would continue on the path of stability and development under the current administration, calling on residents to support government efforts aimed at building a more united and prosperous state.
