
Anambra State Governor, Charles Soludo
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Professor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) the winner of the Anambra State governorship election held on November 8.
Announcing the results on Sunday at INEC’s state headquarters in Awka, the Returning Officer, Professor Edoba Omoregie—who also serves as Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin—confirmed that Soludo garnered a total of 422,664 votes, placing him far ahead of his contenders.
His closest opponent, Chief Nichols Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recorded 99,445 votes, while Paul Chukwuma of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) came in third with 37,753 votes.
Other contestants included Labour Party’s George Moghalu, who secured 10,576 votes, and John Nwosu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who finished with 8,208 votes.
With this declaration, Soludo’s triumph reaffirms APGA’s continued dominance in Anambra politics and marks a significant milestone in the state’s democratic journey.
