Insecurity: NAWOJ holds special prayer session in Bauchi for divine intervention

Worried by the deteriorating security situation in the country, The National Association of Women Journalists in Bauchi State, have held a special prayer session seeking for God’s divine intervention.

The women who were clad in red dresses took turns to say both Christian and Muslim prayers at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Bauchi State Council on Tuesday.

They also held placards with different inscriptions such as: “#SayNoToAbudctionOfStudents,” “#NoToKidnapping,” “#TheTimeToActIsNow,” “#SecureOurNation,” “#TogetherWeCanMakeTheDifference” among others.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the prayer session, the Bauchi State NAWOJ Chairperson, Bulak Afsa, said the union decided to seek God’s face because only him can deliver the country from the numerous challenges bedeviling it.

She said: “We’re gathered here today as women, we’re not wearing the caps as journalists, but that of women and mothers because our country is going through a lot, these are trying times both for the government and the governed”.

“We decided to seek the face of the Lord because there is nothing we commit into his hands that he will not take care of”.

“Students cannot go back to school to read, at times, you cannot travel from one location to the other, the issue of rape is on the increase and many other societal ills in the nation”.

“As we identify with these problems, we are here to call on our heavenly Father because we know that he alone can deliver our nation from the state it finds itself in.”

Mrs. Afsa said that the prayer sessions were held simultaneously across all the 36 states of the federation “because it was a directive from National Headquarters of NAWOJ, that all women should take time to pray so that God will hear us and heal our land.
