Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has commended the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) for the timely and orderly conduct of the Local Government elections held on Saturday, 13th December 2025.
The commendation was contained in a press statement signed by the Secretary of the Council, Hon. Abba Modu, a copy which was made available to Journalists in Maiduguri on Monday.
He said: “IPAC acknowledges the efforts of BOSIEC, the state government, and the security agencies in ensuring a relatively peaceful electoral process, especially in view of the fragile security situation in the state.
“IPAC calls on political parties, candidates, and supporters who did not emerge victorious in the elections to accept the outcome in good faith and support the winners in the collective interest of peace, unity, and development of Borno State.
“All stakeholders are urged to avoid any actions or utterances capable of undermining the efforts of the state government and security agencies in sustaining the fragile peace currently enjoyed in the state.
“Furthermore, IPAC calls on the elected Chairmen and Councillors to extend hands of fellowship to their opponents and work inclusively with all stakeholders to promote unity, reconciliation, and good governance at the grassroots for the benefit of all citizens of Borno State.
“IPAC also urges the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC) to critically review areas of concern observed during the conduct of the elections and make necessary improvements ahead of future Local Government elections in the state.
“IPAC remains committed to strengthening democratic practices, peaceful political engagement, and credible electoral processes in Borno State.
Meanwhile, our correspondent observed that six political parties participated in the exercise with the All Progressives Congress (APC) winning all elective positions as the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opted out, citing high cost of nomination/aspiration forms.
