PDP Chieftain, Bode George
By EZEKIEL OBI, Abuja-
Former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Chief Bode George, has made a heartfelt appeal to President Bola Tinubu to reinstate suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in the spirit of the June 12 anniversary.
George’s plea comes as the nation commemorates the 32nd anniversary of the June 12, 1993 election, a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s democratic history.

Forgive Fubara as you forgave Sanwo-Olu
George drew parallels between Fubara’s situation and the forgiveness extended to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“If Tinubu could forgive Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, then he should extend the same gesture to Fubara,” George said, emphasizing the importance of mercy and reconciliation in leadership.
*“Honouring the Struggle for Democracy”*
The PDP chieftain reminded Tinubu of his own role in the struggle for democracy and the sacrifices made by those who fought alongside him.
“He should thank God, honour the memory of those who fought alongside him for democracy, and return Fubara to office immediately,” George urged, highlighting the significance of respecting the democratic ideals that have shaped the nation.
George spoke with authority as an elder statesman, invoking the legacy of his maternal grand uncle, Herbert Macaulay, a pioneering figure in Nigeria’s political history.
“I also appeal to him, in the spirit of my maternal grand uncle who founded the first political party in Nigeria in 1922, to please reinstate Fubara,” George said, underscoring the importance of leadership and statesmanship.
NATIONAL ACCORD reports that Fubara’s suspension by Tinubu on March 18 was a result of escalating political tensions in Rivers State, a situation that has had far-reaching implications for the state’s governance and development.
However, recent developments, including Fubara’s visit to Tinubu during the Sallah celebration, have sparked hopes of a possible reconciliation and a renewed commitment to peace and stability in the region.
