June 12: Ogun pilgrims pray for Abiola, Tinubu in Mecca
The Ogun Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board on Monday organised a special prayer in honor of democracy hero, late MKO Abiola, in far away Saudi Arabia.
This is contained in a statement by the State Amirul Hajj, Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, from Saudi Arabia and made available to newsmen in Abeokuta on Monday.
Speaking at the prayer session, Balogun said Abiola’s name remained indelible as one who fought for the democracy being enjoyed by all today.
Balogun described his love for the country as purely genuine.
He stated that June 12 was not just a day but a time to remember a hero who fought and sacrificed his life for Nigeria.
The Amirul Hajj, thereafter, prayed for a successful tenure for the present administration in Ogun State and the country.
In his contribution, the Chairman Ad-hoc Committee, Imam Tajudeen Ashaye, eulogised MKO Abiola’s kind of love for his country, to the extent of sacrificing his life for the people to enjoy dividends of democracy.
Also speaking, the Consultant to the Governor on Islamic Affairs, Sheikh Iskeel Lawal, said late Abiola is being remembered as a result of his good deeds while alive, praying that Allah grants him Aljanah.
Lending his voice, one of the Ad-hoc committee member, Alhaji Olatunde Oladunjoye, described late Abiola as a philanthropist who extended his love and support to many.
He prayed that God upholds his family, just as he prayed for the present administration in the state to achieve excellently all set goals. (NAN)
