Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur, has visited victims of the recent bomb blasts in Maiduguri who are currently receiving treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital.
The visit follows multiple explosions that occurred across parts of Maiduguri, leaving several people dead and many others injured.

During the visit, Kadafur expressed sympathy to the victims and their families, assuring them of the government’s continued support.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, the deputy governor attributed the attacks to the ongoing military offensive against insurgents in the Sambisa Forest and the Mandara Mountains, as well as other terrorist enclaves.
According to him, the sustained pressure on insurgents may have forced them to infiltrate Maiduguri in a desperate attempt to carry out attacks.

“As human beings, we assume that due to the ongoing operations in Sambisa Forest, the heat on the terrorists has intensified, prompting them to enter Maiduguri,” he said.
Kadafur, however, reassured residents that the security situation remains under control, urging the public to remain calm but vigilant.
He advised citizens to avoid crowded areas and promptly report any suspicious movements to security agencies.
The deputy governor also appreciated residents and stakeholders who have shown concern and support to the Borno State Government during this period.
He reaffirmed the commitment of the state government, in collaboration with security agencies, to ensure the protection of lives and property across the state.
