The Japanese fibre giant Kanekalon has vowed to continue to improve in its collaboration effort in fostering growth within the hairstyling industry during the NBHA collaboration workshop held on March 20th 2025 at the Genesis Hotel & Suite Hall, Challenge Molete Road, Beside Fire Service, Ibadan, Oyo state
Handing over the workshop materials to NBHA President by AH&B and Darling representatives, the Kanekalon representatives Barbara Diana Twum and Mr. Zephaniah Poku Kwarteng expressed their gratitude to NBHA for its continued support.
In her opening remarks, the President of the NBHA, Chief Mrs Toyin Oladapo, emphasized the significant impact the association has had on hairstylists across the state.
She encouraged members to continue supporting the brands that have partnered with NBHA, stressing the importance of collaboration in fostering growth within the hairstyling industry in the state.
Oladapo, while expressing deep appreciation for the dedication and hard work of NBHA members, also acknowledged Kanekalon, Darling Brand, and AH&B for their unwavering support, highlighting her enthusiasm for the ongoing partnership and their commitment to empowering hairstylists.
Responding on behalf of Kanekalon, Mr. Poku, gave an overview of Kanekalon’s history and product features, explaining that Kanekalon is a Japanese synthetic fiber manufactured by Kaneka Corporation, first introduced in 1957.
He added that Kanekalon has transitioned from being solely a fiber manufacturer to a solutions provider.
He stated that the Kanekalon Collaboration Workshop is here to engage with stylists so as to get feedback on their products reinforcing that the brand is committed to continuous improvement.
Poku highlighted several key advancements in Kanekalon’s product line, noting that their fibers have been refined to offer a softer texture, less wastage, and time-saving benefits, ultimately leading to increased profitability for hairstylists.
“However, it is worthy of note that, Kanekalon over the years, has earned a reputation for its flame-retardant properties, durability, and ease of braiding, making it a top choice for hairstylists”.
He further announced that for 65 years, Kanekalon has remained a favorite among professionals in the industry in Nigeria.
Differentiating Kanekalon fibers from other brands, Poku explained that Kanekalon fibers are known for their soft touch, whereas many competing fibers tend to feel hard and rough.
He also elaborated on the key benefits Kanekalon offers hairstylists, emphasizing that the product minimizes wastage after stretching, which can help stylists reduce costs and maximize their materials.
During the Brand presentation, the Darling representative, Biola Yaqub introduced the company’s products, including the Darling Duchess.
She explained that these products, available in various colors, were carefully designed to enhance efficiency and save time, making them a premium fiber choice for stylists and encouraged them to purchase products directly from accredited distributors to ensure they get the best prices and access to authentic products.
The kanekalon team leader, Barbara during the questions and answers segment clarified on product benefits, and ensured that participants were well-informed about the product offerings.
The session provided hairstylists with a deeper understanding of how the products could improve their work efficiency and overall experience.
