A devastating incident has occurred in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where kidnappers murdered 22-year-old Anas Zubairu, a Nigerian student of a Moroccan university, after collecting ransom from his family.
Anas, who was on holiday, was abducted on Friday, August 28, in the Project Quarters area of Lafia metropolis.
According to his aunt, Hajiya Halima Jabiru (Gausiyan Lafia), a former Commissioner of Women Affairs in Nasarawa State, and other sources, Anas’s family paid the ransom, including an undisclosed amount of money and a new wrapper (a type of fabric). Despite this, the kidnappers brutally killed Anas.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Nasarawa State Command, DSP Ramhan Nansel, claimed he was not aware of the case.
This incident raises concerns about the safety and security of citizens in the region.
