
Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola
Former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola (SAN), was noticeably absent at his polling unit on Saturday, failing to cast his vote in the local government election.
This marks the second time Fashola has been absent from his polling unit during a local government election, having also missed voting in 2021.
Despite expectations that Fashola would arrive with his wife, Abimbola Fashola, he was nowhere to be seen throughout the election, which ran from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Journalists waited in vain for hours, with some sticking around till the end in anticipation of his possible arrival.
Low Voter Turnout
At Polling Unit 002, State Junior Grammar School (Special), Itolo Street, Eric Moore, Surulere, where Fashola was expected to cast his vote, saw eligible voters trickling in.
voting for the Chairmanship and Councillorship election in Polling Unit 002, at State Junior Grammar School (Special), Itolo Street, Eric Moore, Surulere, started at 8.19 a.m, as at the time the INEC agents arrived to set up the unit.
The unit which had 1,355 registered voters, recorded only 213 voters who came to exercise their franchise.
