Peter Obi was the 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP)
By EZEKIEL OBI, Abuja-
Labour Party (LP) has announced plans to expel its former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, due to his continued association with a political coalition formed by Atiku Abubakar and other politicians to challenge President Bola Tinubu led administration.
According to Labour Party chieftain Abayomi Arabambi, Obi’s engagement with the opposition coalition led by former Senate President, David Mark, Atiku Abubakar, and other politicians, while still identifying as a party member is unconstitutional.

Unconstitutional to belong to 2 parties
Arabambi stated, “We are convening a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting where he [Obi] will be expelled.
“It is unconstitutional to belong to two political groups at once. They have lured him away, and there he will remain.”
He emphasized that the NEC would recommend Obi’s expulsion, which would then be ratified at the party’s national convention, in line with its constitution.
NEC Meeting to Decide Obi’s Fate
The Labour Party’s NEC meeting is expected to formalize the decision to expel Obi, marking a significant development in the party’s internal affairs.
Arabambi’s comments suggest that the party is determined to take action against Obi’s perceived defection.
