Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has officially been named the Premier League EA Sports Player of the Season after a brilliant campaign for the Old Trafford club.
The Portuguese midfielder ended the season with eight goals and 20 assists, matching the Premier League single season assist record set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
Fernandes was again at the centre of almost everything good about United’s attacking play, delivering key passes, creating chances and producing important moments across the season.
The 31-year-old also stepped up for United during difficult periods in the campaign, often carrying the creative responsibility when the team struggled for rhythm and consistency.
His influence and leadership became even more obvious in a season where several United players failed to maintain form, with Fernandes regularly providing the spark in big moments.
The award is the first Premier League Player of the Season honour of his career after years of delivering consistently high performances for Manchester United.
Many supporters now regard this as the finest season of Fernandes’ United career, with the midfielder combining goals, assists and leadership throughout the campaign.
“A season for the history books,” the Premier League posted while announcing the award on Saturday.
For years, Fernandes has been seen as United’s most reliable performer. This season finally brought the individual recognition to match it.
