Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has commenced a nationwide general aptitude test for applicants seeking enlistment into the 2025 Basic Military Training Course (BMTC) 46, with no fewer than 20,000 young Nigerians taking part across the country.
The exercise, which began on Saturday, is being conducted simultaneously at 15 zonal centres nationwide, marking a major milestone in the Air Force’s recruitment process.
Confirming the development in a statement on Sunday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, described the aptitude test as a crucial stage in selecting qualified candidates for the next phase of training.
According to him, the centres are located in Sokoto, Minna, Kaduna, Kano, Bauchi, Maiduguri, Yola, Makurdi, Jos, Ilorin, Ipetu-Ijesa, Enugu, Benin, Port Harcourt and Ikeja.
Ejodame said the wide spread of the test centres demonstrates the Air Force’s resolve to run an inclusive and transparent recruitment process that offers equal opportunity to eligible Nigerians, regardless of their location.
“The nationwide distribution of the centres reflects the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to inclusiveness, equal opportunity and a transparent, merit-based recruitment system that allows qualified Nigerians from all parts of the country to compete fairly,” he said.
He noted that the impressive turnout of applicants highlights the continued confidence of Nigerian youths in the Air Force as a disciplined, professional and patriotic institution.
“The large turnout underscores the sustained confidence of Nigerian youths in the Air Force, as well as our determination to attract capable, motivated and resilient personnel to strengthen national defence and internal security operations,” Ejodame added.
Also speaking on the exercise, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, stressed that the recruitment process is anchored on fairness, integrity and strict adherence to established standards.
“The Nigerian Air Force remains firmly committed to recruiting the best candidates by merit, as the quality of our personnel is fundamental to operational effectiveness and the successful execution of our constitutional mandate,” the CAS said.
He described the aptitude test as a vital step toward building a motivated and mission-ready force, while assuring Nigerians of the NAF’s unwavering support for internal security operations and the protection of lives and property.
