President of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), Dr Safiyyah Hassan Shaibu, has paid a courtesy visit to the President of the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA), Mrs Mernan Femi Oluyede, in Abuja, reaffirming the strong relationship between the two organisations.
Dr Shaibu, who led members of the NAOWA National Executive Council on the visit, congratulated Mrs Oluyede on her assumption of office as DEPOWA President.
She also acknowledged her contributions as the immediate past NAOWA President, describing her tenure as one that left a lasting impact on the association.
She commended Mrs Oluyede’s leadership, particularly her efforts in expanding access to education and healthcare, as well as establishing the NAOWA Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
Dr Shaibu pledged to build on those achievements through programmes focused on youth empowerment, women’s economic development, humanitarian services and education.
The NAOWA President also stressed the need for closer collaboration between both associations to improve the welfare of military, police and other security families.
Responding, Mrs Oluyede praised Dr Shaibu for ensuring continuity and strengthening NAOWA through initiatives aimed at improving the
lives of members.
She reaffirmed DEPOWA’s commitment to working closely with NAOWA in advancing welfare, empowerment and sustainable development across the security community.
The visit ended with the signing of the visitors’ book, exchange of souvenirs and group photographs, as both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening cooperation for the benefit of military and security families.
