Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has appealed to residents of the state not to succumb to threats or intimidation ahead of the August 15 governorship election, assuring them that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property.
The governor made the appeal on Sunday after attending a worship service at Winners’ Chapel in Osogbo, where he addressed issues surrounding the forthcoming election and the need to preserve peace across the state.
Adeleke said he joined worshippers at the church to reaffirm his administration’s commitment to the peace, security and democratic rights of the people of Osun State.
According to him, “Today, I joined worshippers at the Winners’ Chapel Church Service in Osogbo, where I reaffirmed my unwavering commitment to the peace, security and democratic rights of the good people of Osun State. I urged citizens not to be intimidated by threats or acts of violence but to remain steadfast and come out peacefully to exercise their constitutional right to vote in the August 15 governorship election.”
The governor stressed that safeguarding residents remains the foremost responsibility of his administration and encouraged eligible voters to participate in the electoral process without fear.
He said, “I assured our people that their safety remains my administration’s utmost priority and called on everyone to reject fear while defending democracy through the ballot.”
Adeleke also highlighted what he described as the major accomplishments of his government, saying the administration’s record in key sectors would remain its strongest message to the electorate as the election approaches.
Reflecting on his government’s performance, he stated, “I also reflected on the remarkable achievements of our administration across workers’ welfare, healthcare, education, infrastructure, agriculture and other critical sectors, noting that these accomplishments remain our strongest campaign message.”
The governor expressed optimism about the future of the state, reiterating his commitment to sustaining peaceful governance and development.
He added, “Together, we will continue to uphold the values of peace, justice and good governance for a greater Osun State.”
