NDLEA arrest 36 drug traffickers in Jigawa State

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Jigawa State’s Command, said it has arrested 36 suspected drug traffickers in Kirikasamma, Guri and Hadejia LGAs of the state in two days.

In a statement on Friday, The Agency’s Commander, Hajiya Maryam Gambo, said that the suspects were arrested between Feb.15 and Feb. 27,

Hajiya Gambo said the arrests were made in markets, shops and other hideouts, in a determined effort to rid the state of illegal sale and consumption of hard drugs.

She explained that different types of hard drugs, ranging from cannabis sativa (hemp) and psychotropic substances were recovered from the suspects.

According to her, the illicit drugs recovered from the suspects are Tramadol, Exol15, Diszepam, Prometazine injection and Lidocaine injection.

The commander noted that continuous arrest, seizures, prosecutions, counselling and rehabilitation have been and would continue to be the agency’s mandate.

“While we continue to arrest and prosecute these merchants of death, who celebrate their success on the grave of others, we have also continued to educate the pupils and students in primary and secondary schools”.

The NDLEA boss, however solicited for the cooperation of the general public in providing useful information that would help the anti-drug agency in the fight against illicit drugs in the State.
