NGO spends N99m on boreholes and women in Nasarawa

A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), known as Chuga and Friends Foundation (CFF), based in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, says it has spent N90 million to sink 46 motorised boreholes across communities from 2017 to date in the state.

Similarly, the NGO disclosed that it has disbursed the sum of N9 million cash to rural women to enable them become self reliant and contribute positively to the development of the country.

Rev. Dr. Samson Chuga, Chief Executive Officer of the NGO, disclosed this when he took newsmen on tour of activities of the foundation in Akwanga on Friday.

Rev. Dr Chuga, who is also the Minister in- Charge of United English Baptist Church Akwanga, said that the foundation is focusing on provision of portable drinking water to rural areas by drilling boreholes, due to the importance of water to human and societal development.

“The Chuga and Friends Foundation ( CFF) is a faith based organization not for profit Non Governmental NGO which was created in 2017.

“It is an off shoot of partner’s for Water, USA. From 2017 to date, we have executed 46 boreholes across Nasarawa State in which we spent a total of N90million to provide water to communities among other logistics.

“We have provided 2 boreholes in Obi LGA, about 7 in Nassarawa Eggon, 14 in Akwanga, Karu and so many places,” he said.

Chuga, who is also the Vice Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the state, disclosed that the foundation has provided educational facilities in rural communities.

According to him “Our aims and objectives also include to propagate the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Evangelism, organising seminars, workshops and on Radio, Television and other media of communication.

“To preach peace and to promote peaceful co-existence in our society, to provide free medical assistance to rural communities by providing free drugs treatments, establishment of Health Care Centres among others,” he said.

He also said that the foundation from March to date, has received about 28 applications from communities seeking for water from the NGO.

“Out of the 28 applications, possibly we will have18 or 20 communities that the foundation will give them boreholes soonest” he added.

He assured communities of their readiness to provide water and other empowerment programmes in order to change their lives positively.
