Niger Assembly seeks stiffer punishment for kidnappers

The Niger State House of Assembly is set to amend relevant laws to ensure stiffer penalty for kidnappers and cattle rustlers.

The resolution was reached after a motion of urgent public importance by the member representing Chanchaga Constituency, Alhaji Malik Bosso over increased cases of insecurity in the state.

According to the House, the amendment would also focus on adequate punitive measures for those serving as informants for criminals in society.

While condemning the recent kidnapping incidents, the Lawmakers also emphasized the need to strengthen collaboration between the State and Local Government Councils especially in the area of security.
