In a series of decisive operations, the Nigerian Army apprehended 199 suspects, including terrorists and other criminals, while neutralizing several threats across various regions, demonstrating tactical precision and unwavering commitment to national security.
A senior official at Army Headquarters, speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), revealed that troops intensified counterterrorism and internal security efforts, collaborating with sister agencies, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and local vigilante groups. “These coordinated offensives have disrupted criminal networks, leading to the recovery of weapons, illicit funds, stolen petroleum products, and digital crime tools,” the source stated.
In Borno, troops from the 202 Battalion, alongside the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), ambushed a suspected ISWAP/JAS logistics courier in the Bama axis, recovering a bicycle and mechanical parts used in enemy supply chains. In Sokoto, the 8 Division Garrison Strike Team dismantled a drug trafficking ring near Giginya Cantonment and Raymond Village, arresting four suspects and seizing narcotics, two motorcycles, a vehicle, N185,000 in cash, ATM cards, mobile phones, and a point-of-sale machine.
In Katsina, 17 Brigade troops thwarted a deadly ambush on a Nigerian Police convoy in Malumfashi, recovering a police Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) and apprehending notorious terrorist leader Muhammadu Hamisu, alias Mamiyo, with a motorcycle and communication devices. “This swift intervention showcases our resolve to protect lives and assets,” the source noted.
In Kogi, troops working with ONSA Hybrid Forces arrested a suspected kidnapper linked to an insurgent leader in Yagba East.
In Edo, the 322 Artillery Regiment raided criminal hideouts in EMU Forest, capturing a key suspect and recovering a double-barrel gun, a fabricated pistol, 24 mobile phones, live cartridges, multiple motorcycles, and over N500,000 in cash.
In the Federal Capital Territory, the 176 Guards Battalion, alongside ONSA Quick Response Teams, detained three extremist informants during a checkpoint operation along the Lokoja-Abaji corridor. In Plateau, under Operation Safe Haven, troops apprehended wanted cattle rustler Zaki Kabiru and another suspect linked to a recent killing in Mangu.
A significant operation in Delta saw 3 Battalion troops raid a cybercrime training hub in Warri, arresting 183 suspected internet fraudsters and seizing 274 laptops, 87 mobile phones, and other digital devices used in online scams.
“These operations send a strong warning to criminals: there is no safe haven for those who threaten Nigeria’s peace,” the senior officer emphasized.
