Veteran showbiz maestro and social activist, Charles Oputa, popularly known as CharlyBoy, has celebrated his 75th birthday with no regrets about his life’s path.
In an interview with NAN, CharlyBoy said he has no regrets about charting his own course, including his involvement in activism.
“I have no regret whatsoever, as life’s experiences have built me into a stronger and fulfilled man,” he said.
CharlyBoy recounted how he rejected a plum job at Mobil Oil and Gas offered by his influential father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, to pursue his passion for music and activism.
The septuagenarian said, “I only wanted to break out of my father’s shadow.”
Despite the beef that lingered between him and his father for years, CharlyBoy said he has no regrets, adding that every experience, good or bad, taught him valuable lessons.
CharlyBoy is set to unveil his memoir, “999”, which tells the story of his life’s journey, including his rebellious phase and four marriages before age 36.
The maverick activist remains committed to fighting for the rights of ordinary Nigerians, a cause that has earned him both accolades and persecution.
