NSCDC trains 104 officers on Internal Security, Counter-Terrorism in Benue

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Benue Command, says it has trained 104 officers on Internal Security and Counter-Terrorism/Insurgency.

In his address during the Passing Out Parade of the officers on Friday in Makurdi, the Commandant, Mr Yakubu Ibrahim, said the training would enable the corps to deliver on its core mandate of protecting government critical assets.

Ibrahim congratulated the officers for their perseverance and commitment during the training.

He charged them to be good ambassadors of NSCDC in protecting lives and Nigeria’s critical national assets.

The Commandant cautioned the graduands against indulging in unethical conducts such as: accidental discharge, harassment and intimidation of the citizens.

He said any personnel found wanting in flaunting the laid down rules and standards of the Corps, would be severely sanctioned.

Ibrahim assured Benue people of NSCDC’s commitment to flushing out criminal elements from the state.

“With these trained combat officers and men, who are ever ready to do good things for good people, and do bad things to bad people, you can be rest assured that your interest shall be protected,” he promised.

Presenting the officers, the head of Training and Manpower Development, Mr Chinonso Nwagu, disclosed that they were trained for six months in arms bearing, tactics and regimentation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), reports that the Command also celebrated the 2024 World Civil Defence Day with the theme:  “Honour our Heroes and Promote Safety Skills””. (NAN)
