The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Benue State Chapter has lauded the efforts of the Governor Hyacinth Alia led administration for implementing accumulated promotion of primary school teachers in the state.

The NUT Chairman in the state, Levi Akuma, who gave the commendation in an interview with journalists in Makurdi, described the implementation of the 17-year old accumulated promotions as a moral booster to primary school teachers, who had felt neglected and abandoned by previous administrations.

Mr. Akuma, who equally distanced the union leadership from the alleged arbitrary deduction saga of some primary school teachers salaries that sparked off protest by teachers who were affected by the development in some local government areas, said the NUT under his leadership was not aware of such deductions.

While commending Governor Hyacinth Alia for being up- to- date in payment of salaries and pensions since he came on board, appreciated the SUBEB Chairman, Grace Adagba for her pragmatic leadership approach to issues at the board.

The NUT Chairman noted with satisfaction that what she was doing had already corrected the many wrongs that had existed at the board, attributing the implementation of the 17-year old accumulated promotions to her good work in office.

He however assured government of the union’s support to enable it record more successes.
