Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo
By EMMANUEL JIMOH, Benin –
Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has pledged 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, citing the President’s developmental impact across the state.
The declaration was made during a gathering to welcome defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Okpebholo commended PDP members who defected to the APC, saying, “I commend PDP members who have joined the APC. This proves that PDP has lost relevance in Esan Central, my constituency.”
He attributed their decision to the administration’s tangible developmental achievements.
The governor welcomed influential figures, including former APC Chairman Anselm Ojezua, and pledged that the APC would also welcome other returnees, members of the state House of Assembly, ex-chairmen, councilors, and former PDP leaders now backing the APC.
“In 2027, Edo will give Tinubu 2.5 million votes. Edo is APC, and APC is the engine of our progress,” he declared.
Major General Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), APC leader in Edo Central, reassured defectors of inclusion and fairness within the party’s structure, saying, “Join this movement of peace and purpose. Together, we will move Edo forward.”
The governor’s confidence in the APC’s success in Edo State is evident in his statement, which highlights the party’s commitment to the state’s growth and development.
