Ombugadu pays NHIS N195m to enrol 13,000 persons in Nasarawa.

The governorship candidate of PDP during 2023 general elections in Nasarawa State, Dr. Emmanuel David Ombugadu, has announced free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) enrollment for 13,000 persons across the 13 local government areas of the state.
Dr Umbugadu, announced the gesture on Wednesday, during his triumphant home coming and Thanksgiving, organised by his party at his residence, Unity House, in Akwanga, Nasarawa State.
He said the initiative was aimed at enhancing healthcare accessibility and support for the well-being of the less privileged persons across the 13 local government of the state.
“I’m pleased to announce that a cheque of one hundred and ninety-five million naira for a health insurance initiative has been is here with me and I am going to do a symbolic presentation to NHIS”
“Whether in government or not, I will continue to support healthcare initiatives through private participation in my own little way of giving back to the people” he said.
He used the occasion to expressed gratitude to the people of Nasarawa state for their unwavering support during and after electoral processes up to the Supreme Court.
He reflected on the commitment of his supporters and the challenges encountered during the electoral contest, saying “My returning home today is to thank my people for the support showed to me during and after the governorship election.”
Our correspondent reported that Ombugadu’s journey back to Akwanga, was heralded by procession through key local government areas of Karu, Keffi, and Kokona, culminating in a warm reception by supporters in Akwanga town.
Ombugadu reaffirmed his dedication to seeing the state’s dream come to fruition. “The dream of Nasarawa State must be realized,” he declared resolutely, signaling his steadfast resolve to pursue transformative change and progress within the region.
Earlier, Mr. Labaran Maku, Director General of the Campaign Council for David Ombugadu and Yahaya Ohinoyi, reiterated the belief in the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) electoral triumph in the 2023 gubernatorial election in Nasarawa State.
“Everybody knows we won the election,” Maku declared emphatically, emphasizing the unity among stakeholders in affirming the legitimacy of the party in the state.
“Of all the money and government might that was deployed to Nasarawa State, PDP still won the election in the last governorship. Check the INEC IREV and tabulate the results, we won the election” he said.
He acknowledged the pivotal role played by Senator Walid Jibrin, as an elder statesman and former Chairman of the PDP’s Board of Trustees, in rallying support for the party’s victory in the last elections.
Maku lauded the steadfastness and courage displayed by PDP women of Nasarawa State as he commended their unwavering commitment to the electoral process, despite facing intimidation, saying the “Women were not afraid of soldiers, police, and whoever”.
Also speaking, Hon. Francis Orogu, the PDP chairman, reiterated the party’s gratitude to supporters and underscored their unwavering belief in Ombugadu’s electoral victory, saying “The people now know that Ombugadu won the election, but the judiciary took it away from him.”
“The homecoming event not only celebrated Ombugadu’s resilience but also highlighted the enduring spirit of democracy and civic engagement within the state” he said.
