The Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development hosted a one-day community dialogue in Mafa LGA of Borno State, bringing together residents, community leaders, and repentant insurgents for a historic discussion on peace, tolerance, and coexistence.
The event, held at the Hajja Mangal Memorial Hall, aimed to foster understanding and social cohesion among the participants.
The stakeholders present called for increased public enlightenment, advocacy, and awareness campaigns to promote peaceful coexistence.
They also emphasized the need for government and security agencies to intensify security measures in the area, particularly in light of the influx of IDPs and repentant insurgents.
The community leaders and residents appealed for patience, love, and acceptance towards the repentant insurgents, urging them to shun stigmatization and fear. They also recommended interactions with the repentants to build confidence and trust, strengthening unity and social interaction.
Additionally, the stakeholders suggested forgiveness, endurance, and social relationships as essential for convenient livelihood and sustainability. They also emphasized the need for educational facilities, empowerment skills, and poverty alleviation schemes for the host community members and Vigilante group members.

She further elaborated on the importance of addressing fears and concerns, perspectives, and hopes for lasting peace.
