The Borno State Police Command has paraded no fewer than 154 suspects that were arrested for various crimes in the state.
Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Abdul Umar while briefing journalist on Wednesday at the Command Headquarters Maiduguri said the joint operational efforts of the military and police have also led to the recovery of three gun trucks, arms and ammunition from the Boko Haram insurgents during a fierce battle few days ago at Mainok.

According to him, out of the 154 suspects , 67 suspects, have been charged to court and remanded in prison custody for being in possession of dangerous arms and disturbances of public peace in Maiduguri metropolis and its environs.
He further explained that during the period under review, there were a total number of 45 cases reported, 87 suspects arrested, 10 cases charged to court and 35 cases under investigation.

“There were 4 cases of rape and 7 suspects were arrested while the cases were under investigation, 8 cases of culpable homicide with 9 suspects arrested and being investigated, 4 cases of kidnapping with 9 suspects arrested and being investigated, 11 cases of criminal conspiracy, disturbances of public peace , assaults and possession of dangerous weapons with 19 suspects arrested 7 charged to court and 4 being investigated”.

“There was also a case of criminal conspiracy and theft of armoured cables with 5 suspects arrested and one being investigated, 3 being in possession of dry leaves suspected to be Indian Hemp with 8 suspects are wanted and 3 being investigated, 12 cases of theft with 18 suspects arrested , 3 charged to court and 9 being investigated”. He said

CP Umar also noted that there was a case of criminal conspiracy, forgery, abetment and official breach of trust with a suspect arrested and being investigated and a case of destruction of government property and theft with 9 suspects arrested and one being investigated.
The CP added that all the successes were achieved with the support and cooperation of the people of Borno and other security agents in the state.
He also thanked the State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum for his support to the security agencies towards restoration of peace and protection of lives and properties.
The CP reiterated the willingness of the the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to enhance the welfare of officers and as well as motivate and encourage them to discharge their duties diligently and professionally.
The police boss further commended the media for their objective reportage of police activities and other security agencies in the state.
