Marc Cucurella is set for a move to Real Madrid after a verbal agreement was reached for the Chelsea defender to join the Spanish giants following the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that all parties involved, including the player, have agreed terms, paving the way for the transfer to be completed.
The Spain international was reportedly the left-back identified by José Mourinho as a priority target, with Real Madrid moving swiftly to secure an agreement.
Cucurella is expected to bring his spell at Chelsea to an end before returning to Spanish football with the European heavyweights.
Although details of the transfer fee and contract have not yet been disclosed, the deal is understood to be in place in principle, with further information expected in the coming days.
The move would hand Madrid another experienced option on the left side of defence, while Chelsea prepare to part ways with one of their senior players.
Romano described the deal as a “Here We Go”, indicating that only the final formalities remain before the transfer is completed.
