Ammunition recovered by the police in Jos
By CHRISTIANA LOT, Jos –
Plateau State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its efforts to combat crime, with the recovery of 500 rounds of live ammunition in Jos North Local Government Area.
Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the Command Headquarters on Tuesday.
CP Adesina said the ammunition was discovered during a raid on a suspected criminal hideout following credible intelligence, and linked the recovery to an ongoing investigation into a case of culpable homicide reported the day before.

“On 04/05/2025 at about 09:40pm, based on credible intelligence, a criminal hideout along Bauchi Road in Jos North Local Government Area of the state was raided, and an abandoned ash-coloured Golf Wagon with Reg. No. JJN 812 AH was recovered. When a search was carried out on the vehicle by our operatives, 500 rounds of 7.65mm ammunition were recovered.”
He added: “It will be recalled that a case of culpable homicide was reported on 03/05/2025, where a yet-to-be-identified person was killed. We swung into action to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the victim. It was in the process of this investigation that the above recoveries were made.”
Adesina assured the public that the Command is actively pursuing those behind the arms stockpile and used the opportunity to call for greater cooperation from residents.
“I want to assure you that we are making frantic efforts to arrest the perpetrators and recover their operational weapons. As we go on the hunt for these men of the underworld, I call on the good citizens of Plateau State to please provide us with any relevant information that could help in our investigation,” he said.
Reiterating the Command’s commitment to public safety, CP Adesina added: “The Plateau State Police Command remains resolute in its mission to protect lives and property and maintain law and order in the state. We are dedicated to creating a habitable environment for all residents of Plateau State.”
The CP praised his operatives for their swift and effective response, describing the recovery as a clear signal that the police will continue to disrupt criminal operations across the state.
