In a remarkable operation, the Oyo State Police Command successfully rescued an Egyptian national kidnapped in Ibadan on September 8, 2025.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, confirmed the rescue in a statement released on Tuesday. According to Osifeso, the abduction occurred in the Alomaja area of Idi-Ayunre, Ibadan.
“The safe recovery of the victim without any ransom payment highlights the relentless dedication of our officers and seamless inter-agency cooperation,” Osifeso stated.
He credited the swift response to the strategic leadership of Commissioner of Police Femi Haruna, whose coordinated efforts led to the victim’s prompt rescue.
Osifeso detailed that the operation involved meticulous planning, intelligence-driven analysis, and an exhaustive search across forests and border regions between Oyo and Ogun states.
“Through these efforts, the joint teams located and safely extracted the abducted individual,” he added.
The rescued Egyptian is set to reunite with his family following medical evaluations at the Police Hospital in Eleyele, Ibadan.
Osifeso urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities via emergency police contacts, emphasizing that “public safety remains the command’s top priority, and we are committed to ensuring peace across Oyo State.”
