Hon David Ombugadu
Barely three weeks after joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. David Ombugadu, popularly known as Davematics, has tendered his resignation from the ruling party.
Ombugadu, a former gubernatorial candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State, confirmed his resignation from the party on Tuesday evening in a letter addressed to the APC chairman in Ika/Wangibi electoral ward of Nasarawa Eggon local government area of the state.
It is worth recalling that Ombugadu was received on Tuesday, 2nd March 2026, during the APC Congress at Government House Lafia, by Governor Abdullahi Sule, his two predecessors, Senators Abdullahi Adamu and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, as well as the APC chairman in the state, Dr. Aliyu Bello.
Investigations reveal that Ombugadu first defected to the PDP in 2014 from the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), and he has remained with the PDP until just three weeks ago when he defected to the APC
In a letter addressed to the Ward Chairman of the APC, Ika Wangibi Ward, Nasarawa Eggon LGA, dated 24th March, he expressed that his hope lies with the PDP, hence his decision to make a U-turn.
It is also notable that Ombugadu first contested the governorship election in the state in 2019 but was unsuccessful. In 2023, he contested again and caused a major upset, leading to a prolonged legal dispute that reached the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
