
Former Minister of Information, Labaran Maku
Coalition of stakeholders from Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area and Agidi Development Area, have added their voices to popular calls on Hon. Labaran Maku, to contest the Nasarawa North Senatorial by-election, citing his leadership experience.
This is coming barely a week after opinion leaders from Akun Development Area, called on the former Minister of Information, to throw his hat on the ring to contest the forthcoming Nasarawa North Senatorial by-election.
NATIONAL ACCORD recalled that on Tuesday this week, representatives from Alizaga, Alogani, Umme and Agunji electoral wards convened a meeting, responding to the vacancy created by the demise of late Senator Godiya Akwashiki.
While on Thursday, those from Mada Station, Kagbu, Lambaga/Arikpa, Ikka/Wangibi, Lizzen Keffi and Igga/Burumburu electoral wards, also voiced out their support to the popular calls on the former Minister of Information, to join the Senatorial by-election race.
Stakeholders at the two meetings described Hon. Maku, as a seasoned administrator and respected son of Nasarawa North, uniquely positioned to represent the district.
The stakeholders also emphasized the need for a leader with proven competence, integrity, and ability to attract federal projects, citing Maku’s qualifications to what is expected of him, as they resolved to appeal to Maku, to contest, mobilize support, and promote unity and peace throughout the electoral process.
The chairman of the stakeholders, Hon. Mohamed Ewon, reaffirmed the stakeholders’ commitment to ensuring Nasarawa North remains well represented, with a motion calling on Maku, to answer the clarion calls of his people.
The meeting concluded with prayers for a peaceful by-election and continued unity and progress for Nasarawa North.
